Overview

RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.

It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes.

Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements.

RIIRIS301E – Apply risk management processes

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply risk management processes in the mining, drilling and civil infrastructure industry.

This unit applies to individuals who contribute to applying risk management processes as part of their responsibilities. This could be an employer, line manager, supervisor, safety representative or employee. This unit applies to those who carry out or assist in carrying out risk assessment in the workplace.

Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

This nationally recognised course covers theoretical and practical aspects of working at height.

During the course we will assist you to develop safe work method statements and risk assessments for in working safely at heights.

All workers who conduct or supervise tasks whilst working at heights will find this course beneficial to workplace safety.

This course will enable you to comply with current WHS legislation and upon successful completion will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.

 

Course Details

Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North

Duration: 1 day.

Course Times: Start at 7:45am.

The session typically runs until 4pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for.

Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.

If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.

Do you guarantee I will pass my working at heights assessment?

Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.

Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements.  Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.

What employment opportunities will my working at heights ticket bring?

We have partnered with Advanced Recruitment Services who specialise in mining, construction, maritime and logistics recruitment.  The team there will do their best to place you in a position where you can utilise your new working at heights skills.  You can register to join their talent pool here.

What certification will I receive?

On successful completion and assessed as competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Pro-Lift Training and Assessment Services RTO 40817.

All training materials and stationery required to complete the assessment are provided.

When do I need to do a refresher course?

Industry standard is generally every 24 months, but this can vary from site to site. Please check with your site safety officer for the specific requirement on your work site.
