Overview
This Skill Set addresses the regulatory requirements for open-cut coal mining specified in Recognised Standard 11, Training in coal mines – Coal Mining Safety and Health Act, Queensland. This Skill Set is for individuals working or aiming to work in surface coal mining operations in the Resources and Infrastructure Industry.
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge to work safely in surface coal mining operations.
The units provide credit towards a RII20120 Certificate II in Resources and Infrastructure Work Preparation qualification and other qualifications that allow for selection of these units.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this skill set can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the skill set.

This skill set is for individuals who work in a surface coal mine context, and who work under direct supervision in operational roles.
This combined course will enable you to comply with current WHS legislation and upon successful completion will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.
Course Details
Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North
Duration: 1-2 days.
Course Times: Start at 7:45am.
The session typically runs until 4pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for.
Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.
If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.

Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.
Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements. Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.
What employment opportunities will my standard 11 course bring?
We have partnered with Advanced Recruitment Services who specialise in mining, construction, maritime and logistics recruitment. The team there will do their best to place you in a mining position where you can utilise your new knowledge. You can register to join their talent pool here.
What certification will I receive?
On successful completion and assessed as competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Pro-Lift Training and Assessment Services RTO 40817.
