TWO SKID STEER COURSE OPTIONS

There are two skid steer course options available:

CIVIL BOB CAT | RIIMPO318F Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations

This ticket is suitable for those wanting to operate a skid steer in the construction industry and you may be eligible for funding.

BOB CAT | RIIMPO334E Conduct skid steer loader operations using attachments

This ticket is suitable for those wanting to operate a skid steer on specific sites such as mine sites or quarries and you may be eligible for funding.

Both courses are the same price or alternatively you can cover both qualifications in the same time for an additional $109 to cover the different theory aspects of the two courses.

 

Overview – skid steer ticket RIIMPO318F

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required operate a skid steer loader to load, haul and distribute materials.

This unit applies to those working in construction site based roles.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.

This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisting someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and unload plant or equivalent.

Practical Component:

  • The candidate must demonstrate completion of skid steer loader operations that safely, effectively and efficiently follows workplace procedures to carry out work activity on at least two occasions, and include:
    • conducting prestart checks prior to commencing operations and shutdown procedures on completion of operations
    • driving and operating the equipment to site conditions
    • completion of operations to specification using at least two different material types (i.e. one different material per occasion) including:
    • stripping/spreading materials
    • backfilling
    • excavations
    • mixing materials
    • selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing attachments on at least two occasions (i.e. one attachment per occasion), the attachment must be certified and approved in line with workplace procedures and could include, but not limited to, the following:
      • multipurpose bucket
      • forks
      • dozer blade
      • backhoe
      • auger
      • chain digger
      • power broom
      • profiler
      • tiller/mixer
      • rotary hoe
      • hammer
      • asphalt cutter/saw
      • concrete cutter/saw
      • rake
      • assisting with loading and unloading skid steer loader from float/trailer
      • safely parking and securing equipment
      • assisting with loading and unloading unit plant type from float/trailer
      • parking and securing of equipment.

Please note that all theory is to be completed prior to your practical assessment.  This can be emailed or printed and collected from our Cairns facility. Theory can be completed at home or if preferred, can be completed self-paced at our facility.  Please advise us which option suits.

On successful completion you will receive statement of attainment for RIIMPO318F – Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations

 

Course Details – SKID steer ticket RIIMPO318F

Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North 

Duration: 2 days.

Course Times: Start at 7:45am.

Assessment Type: Theory and Practical

On the day of assessment, you may be required to start before 7:30am and stay after 5pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for, we will advise of these times whilst you are on the course.

Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.

If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a car licence to get a skid steer ticket?

No.  A car drivers licence is not required to complete your skid steer training course and receive your skid steer ticket.  If you have never driven or operated a vehicle then you may require additional training.

Do you guarantee I will pass my skid steer assessment?

Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.

Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements.  Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.

What employment opportunities will my skid steer ticket bring?

We have partnered with Advanced Recruitment Services who specialise in mining, construction, maritime and logistics recruitment.  The team there will do their best to place you in a position where you can utilise your new skid steer operating skills.  You can register to join their talent pool here.

What certification will I receive?

On successful completion and assessed as competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Pro-Lift Training and Assessment Services RTO 40817.
