Overview
This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.
This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
- Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations;
- Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for Western Australia; and
- Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 for Victoria.
It is expected that site-specific induction training will be conducted prior to conducting construction work.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit. Relevant work health and safety state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm jurisdictional requirements.
This course will enable you to comply with current WHS legislation and upon successful completion will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.
On successful completion you will receive statement of attainment for CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry issued by Pro-Lift Training & Assessment Services RTO 40817.
Course Details
Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North
Duration: 1 day.
Course Times: Start at 7:45am.
Assessment Type: Theory and Practical.
Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.
If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.
On successful completion of being deemed competent you will receive a statement of attainment and a plastic industry wallet card issued by RTO 40817.

Do you guarantee I will pass my white card assessment?
Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.
Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements. Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.
What employment opportunities will my white card bring?

What certification will I receive?
