Overview – Backhoe/loader ticket

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate a backhoe/loader to load, distribute and place materials.

This unit applies to those working in site based roles.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.

 

Practical Component:

  • conducting prestart checks prior to commencing operations and shutdown procedures on completion of operations
  • driving and operating the equipment, and adjusting techniques to suit site conditions
  • completion of operations to specification using at least two different material types (i.e. one different material type per occasion) including:
      • mixing materials
      • stripping/spreading materials
      • trench excavation
      • backfilling
      • lifting and carry materials
      • loading dump trucks, wagons, hoppers or chutes
      • cutting/boxing

Please note that all theory is to be completed prior to your practical assessment.  This can be emailed or printed and collected from our Cairns facility. Theory can be completed at home or if preferred, can be completed self-paced at our facility.  Please advise us which option suits.

On successful completion you will receive statement of attainment for RIIMPO319E – Conduct backhoe/loader operations

 

Course Details – Backhoe/Loader ticket

Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North 

Duration: 2 days.

Course Times: Start at 7:45am.

Assessment type: Theory and Practical

On the day of assessment, you may be required to start before 7:30am and stay after 5pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for, we will advise of these times whilst you are on the course.

Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.

If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.

 

This nationally recognised training course gives participants the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and efficiently operate a Backhoe/Loader and work in a range of different working environments including earthmoving, civil construction industries.

    • Legislations and standards applicable to operating a Backhoe/Loader
    • Risk management, control procedures & prepare for Backhoe/Loader operations
    • Drive and operate Backhoe/Loader, and modify the operating technique to meet changing work conditions
    • Load, carry and place materials
    • Select, remove and fit attachments
    • Relocate the Backhoe
    • Conduct house keeping

On successful completion of being deemed competent you will receive a statement of attainment and a plastic industry wallet card issued by RTO 40817

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a car licence to get a backhoe/loader ticket?

No.  A car drivers licence is not required to complete your backhoe/loader training course and receive your backhoe/loader ticket.  If you have never driven or operated a vehicle then you may require additional training.

Do you guarantee I will pass my backhoe/loader assessment?

Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.

Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements.  Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.

What employment opportunities will my backhoe/loader ticket bring?

What certification will I receive?

On successful completion and assessed as competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Pro-Lift Training and Assessment Services RTO 40817.
