Overview
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations.
This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles within the mining, building and construction industries.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.
Practical Component:
- performing pre-start, start-up and shutdown procedures
- checking controls, brakes and attachments for manoeuverability and serviceability and rectifying or reporting faults
- operating the telescopic materials handler
- attaching and securing appropriate lifting gear
- shifting the load
- selecting, fitting, testing, using and removing attachments, which must be certified and approved in line with workplace procedures
- transporting the machine and equipment between work sites
- parking and securing equipment
Course Details
Course Location: 39 Moffat Street, Cairns North
Duration: 1-2 days.
Course Times: Start at 7:45am.
On the day of assessment, you may be required to start before 7:30am and stay after 5pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for, we will advise of these times whilst you are on the course.
Due to site safety inductions, any student that arrives after 08:15am will need to reschedule their booking and pay for the course in full.
If you are unable to attend due to illness, we will require a doctors certificate/clearence to be able to reschedule your course. If you are unable to provide a doctors clearance/certificate then you may need to pay for your course again.
On successful completion of being deemed competent you will receive a statement of attainment and a plastic industry wallet card issued by RTO 40817.

Do I need a car licence to get a telehandler ticket?
No. A car drivers licence is not required to complete your telehandler training course and receive your telehandler ticket. If you have never driven or operated a vehicle then you may require additional training.
Do you guarantee I will pass my telehandler assessment?
Our trainer assessors will do everything they can to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to pass your assessment.
Our main aim is for you to stay safe so for that reason, we will not pass anyone who does not meet the passing requirements. Overall, our passing rate is extremely high.
What employment opportunities will my telehandler ticket bring?

What certification will I receive?
On successful completion and assessed as competent you will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Pro-Lift Training and Assessment Services RTO 40817.
